Valley NewsMilitary veterans attending Dartmouth may have a chance to live in a home with fellow veteran-students, thanks to a nonprofit group's effort to buy a house near campus, the Valley News reports.

Project VetCare Inc., has received an anonymous pledge of $375,000 toward the purchase of a house on Lebanon Street in Hanover. The purchase price of the building is $475,000, and the group is seeking $100,000 in donations to secure the pledge by May 31, according to the newspaper.

“This is definitely a great start,” Chris Allen ’15, president of the Dartmouth Undergraduate Veterans Association tells the newspaper. Allen is also an intern in the Project VetCare's office, located in Hanover. Veterans would pay rent to live in the house.

James Wright, Dartmouth's president emeritus, and his wife, Susan Debevoise Wright, are among the donors who have supported the project. Wright, who served in the Marine Corps, has been an advocate for wounded soliders and has worked encouraging veterans to attend college.
